The Drink That Could Heal Chronic Disease and Cancer

I have to say, that there are only a few drinks I prefer to include in my diet other than plain water. And one of my most favorite ones, especially for the cold winter evenings – is the famous Golden Turmeric Milk.

That is to say, I am sure you have probably heard about turmeric and how good it is for you. Well, it surely has good reasons for that. In fact, turmeric has been attributed a number of medicinal properties in the traditional system of medicine.

Health Benefits of Turmeric

turmeric

The main active compound of turmeric is called curcumin, which has a wide range of therapeutic effects:

  1. It is an antioxidant. Curcumin protects against free radical damage because it is a strong antioxidant
  2. It reduces inflammation by lowering histamine levels and increasing the production of natural cortisone by the adrenal glands
  3. It may be helpful in treating gallstones
  4. It helps to promote healthy liver
  5. It improves circulation by preventing platelets from clumping together
  6. It inhibits the growth of a variety of bacteria, parasites, and pathogenic fungi
  7. It helps in lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels
  8. It might help to heal gastric ulcers
  9. And it has anticancer properties!

Precaution!

Generally, turmeric considered to be safe. However, for some people, it may cause gastric irritation, stomach upset, nausea, diarrhea, allergic skin reaction, and problems with a blood-clot formation. (1)

So if you experience these symptoms or you have previously had problems with the blood-clotting mechanism or you use Aspirin, please avoid turmeric or/and use it in moderation.

How to Use Turmeric

This list of benefits sounds really amazing, doesn’t it?! Well, turmeric really works. But here is one issue. Curcumin content of turmeric is not that high. It’s around 3-6% by weight. So it is very difficult to reach the necessary levels just using the turmeric spice in foods.

Another fact to know is that curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream. But there is an easy solution for this issue – consume black pepper with it, which contains piperine, a natural substance that enhances the absorption of curcumin by 2,000% (2). Also curcumin is fat soluble and some oil needs to be consumed together so it absorbs better into the blood.

All things considered, I found for myself that Golden Turmeric Milk is the best way to incorporate turmeric into the diet. As a result, you will get enough amounts of curcumin to experience all the benefits turmeric has to offer. And at the same time including black pepper into this milk makes curcumin the most absorbent for the body.

Golden Turmeric Milk

Servings 1 Cup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of unsweetened plant-based milk of your choice
  • 1 tsp of turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp of ginger powder
  • 1/4 tsp of cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp maple syrup optional

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients except for maple syrup in a small saucepan using a bamboo whisk and bring to almost boiling temperature. I do not boil it, but if you wish you can simmer it for a couple of minutes.

  2. Put a drink in a mug, add maple syrup if using any, mix well and then top it with cinnamon.

  3. Enjoy the milk while it is hot

  4. Note: very important to add black pepper and oil when making this milk. Curcumin is oil soluble as well as needs piperine to be able to absorbe better into the blood.

Recipe Notes

I prefer to make it fresh every time. But it can also be made in advance and stored in your refrigerator for up to five days. Simply reheat it before drinking.

Conclusion

In brief, golden turmeric milk is a delicious drink loaded with lots of health benefits. And if you have no health issue that can prevent you from using turmeric, this is the drink that is great to incorporate into your diet.

Particularly I like to consume it every evening before bed. For whatever reason, it helps to promote a good night sleep as well. In addition, I usually use almond milk, so it provides me with my daily requirements of Calcium and Vitamin D.

    1. If you wish, you can add maple syrup. I personally love to add about a teaspoon. Then it tastes very cozy and sweet. Although I know some people drink it unsweetened. And it tastes great as well. So you can try different options and check which one you like better.

  5. I do think turmeric is healing, but so far I am still dealing with cancer. Maybe I need to take more, maybe a different kind … I wish I knew! But I do love it and add it to many foods, and I always feel good about eating it. I haven’t made golden turmeric milk before, so I will add this to my list. Thank you!

    1. I hope it will help you in your battle with cancer! Try to use turmeric that has curcumin as high as 5-6% by weight. The most important is the curcumin compound in it. Although it is great to add turmeric in foods, this way is not enough to get plenty of curcumin to experience all the benefits. So definitely try this milk. If consumed every day, you might be able to see the results. I really hope it helps you on your journey. God bless!

  6. Like anything, I feel like things like this should be researched, and of course taken in moderation. That said, natural preventatives and remedies always reign supreme 🙂
